Observing Love: Localized Adaptation of Observational Dating Shows and the Mirror of Youth Emotions
Abstract
online variety shows. This paper explores the localization strategies adopted in the Chinese version compared to the Korean original, as well
as the emotional and psychological profile of young audiences reflected by the show. The study finds that the show reflects young people's desire for emotional authenticity, their anxiety over acquiring intimate relationship skills, and their awakening gender consciousness and redefinition of intimate relationships. Therefore, this paper argues that observational dating shows are not merely entertainment products, but also
mirrors that reflect the emotional structure and the public emotional sphere of contemporary youth.
