Designing Immersive Digital Cultural Tourism Experiences along the Jiangsu Section of the Grand Canal: An Interactive Narrative Perspective
Abstract
fragmented. The problem is not simply technical; story, interaction, and cultural understanding are weakly connected. Using interactive narrative theory, this paper examines the China Grand Canal Museum's digital exhibition area and the "Grand Canal Yangzhou" cruise performance
through three dimensions: narrative architecture, interaction mechanisms, and immersive experience. The comparison shows poor narrative
continuity, interaction that still depends largely on preset content, and difficulty turning sensory presence into cultural identification. In response, the paper proposes a transmedia narrative linking sites and media, embodied interaction with narrative consequences, and immersion
oriented toward cultural identity. The study offers a design reference for the digital transmission of linear cultural heritage.
