AIGC Empowers Animation Creation and Intelligent Narrative Research of Folk Tales in Northwest Sichuan -- Taking Mujie Zhu's Paper-Cut Spirit Beasts as an example

Abstract

The folk stories of the Qiang ethnic group in western Sichuan are passed down through oral tradition. However, they are facing
several practical challenges such as the difficulty in visualizing the transformation, the long production cycle of traditional animation, and the
distortion risks of ethnic cultural elements. Based on the Qiang myth ' Mujie Zhu ', this paper adapts and creates a 6-minute animated short
film ' Mujie Zhu 's Paper-Cut Spirit Beasts '. Based on the intangible cultural heritage resources such as Qiang paper-cut, Qiang embroidery
and watchtower architecture in Maoxian County and Lixian County, this paper uses AIGC technology to complete role design, batch generation of original paintings and intelligent creation of scripts, builds a standardized prompt word system suitable for Qiang cultural characteristics, compares the creative differences between traditional hand-painted and AI animation, and explores the application value of AIGC in
folk theme animation and digital landing of intangible cultural heritage. The research has found that the standardized prompt word system can
effectively reduce the probability of distortion in ethnic element modeling, simplify the visual transformation process of folk stories, and the
single-person-led AIGC creation mode has a significant advantage in efficiency compared to the traditional team hand-drawing mode; meanwhile, at present, AI still has obvious shortcomings in the precise restoration of minor ethnic patterns and the development of deep intelligent
narratives. This research provides a replicable practical model for the digital dissemination of folk stories of ethnic minorities in western Sichuan and the dynamic inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.
