Abstract

Boredom has been a psychological experience since ancient times. It is also a universal experience brought about by the consumer
society and the industrial revolution, and it is also an important feature of modernity. This paper aims to probe into the boredom of the characters influenced by different surroundings in Virginia Woolfs novel To the Lighthouse. By analyzing the characters inner monologues and
emotional descriptions in the novel, it reveals the unique aspects of boredom narrative in expressing characters emotions, psychology, and
