The Influence of AI Algorithm on Media Memory: Technological Change and Ethical Review

Ze Dong, Fengjuan Li

Abstract

In the current era where algorithms are deeply embedded in media ecosystems, the ways human memory is stored and disseminated
have undergone significant transformations. This article explores the impact of AI algorithms on media memory, analyzing their mechanisms
of memory reconstruction and the ethical issues they raise from multiple perspectives. From personalized recommendations in social media
to contextualized search results, AI algorithms reconstruct the formation pathways of collective memory through data mining and pattern
recognition. Such changes not only alter individual memory management but also profoundly influence the construction and transmission of
societal memory. By combining theoretical frameworks with real-world examples from films and social media platforms, the paper reveals
how AI algorithms transform memory storage, dissemination, and construction. It examines emerging ethical challenges including memory
distortion and subject dissolution, while proposing corresponding countermeasures to provide theoretical support for the healthy development
of media memory in the intelligent age.
