The Impact of Split-Screen Animation on Film Narrative

Yun Ding

Abstract

Split-screen animation is a form of animation that divides the screen into multiple frames and employs montage editing between
them, enriching the narrative layers of the work. This narrative technique offers multi-dimensional spatiotemporal possibilities, allowing creators to present storytelling from multiple angles and more intuitively. Distinct from conventional single-screen animation, split-screen animation provides unique aesthetic experiences, such as a sense of formalism, flexible viewing angles, and enhanced viewer immersion, which
bring a fresh visual impact to audiences.
