The Impact of Sustainable Event Management Practices on Tourist Satisfaction in Convention Centers

Yu Jiang

Abstract

With the rise of sustainable development in global tourism, the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry has begun to emphasize environmental responsibility and sustainable operations. This study investigates the impact of sustainable event
management on tourist satisfaction in a large international convention center. Satisfaction data were collected from 120 event participants,
comparing their perceptions before and after the implementation of sustainable practices such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, local
sourcing, and digital ticketing. Results show that sustainable event practices significantly improve overall visitor satisfaction and enhance the
destination's image. Among all practices, local sourcing and digital ticketing demonstrate the strongest positive impact. This study concludes
that sustainable management not only supports environmental goals but also increases customer satisfaction and strengthens the competitiveness of convention tourism destinations.
