Reflections on the Application Value of Lingnan Lime Sculpture in Modern Public Spaces

Jing Wang

Abstract

Against the backdrop of globalization and urbanization, Lingnan Lime Sculpture faces challenges in its inheritance, while mod
ern public spaces suffer from cultural deficits and homogenization.A systematic theoretical framework and practical methodology for inte
grating these two elements remains largely unexplored. This paper combines literature review, case analysis, and interdisciplinary perspec
tives to explore the inevitability and feasibility of integrating lime sculpture into modern public spaces. It establishes core principles such
as genetic inheritance and symbiotic innovation, proposes presentation models from dimensions like architectural interfaces and landscape
carriers, and constructs innovative pathways including pattern translation and technical integration. This research achieves mutual empow
erment between lime sculpture and public spaces, providing actionable solutions for revitalizing lime sculpture while offering a practical
paradigm for integrating similar intangible cultural heritage into modern life. It contributes to regional cultural preservation and the cul
tural upgrading of public spaces.
