A Study on the Impact of Body Image and Psychological Resilience on Performers' Performance Confidence Among Chinese Music Majors in Stage Performances

Qi Zhang, Sukyoung Cho*

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact mechanism of body image and psychological resilience on performance confidence among
Chinese music majors in stage performances, and verify the mediating role of psychological resilience between body image and performance
confidence. Taking music majors from four universities in Xi'an as the research objects, quantitative research methods were adopted, and
questionnaires were used to collect relevant data. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to test the relationship among the three vari
ables. The results show that positive body image significantly and positively predicts performance confidence, and psychological resilience
also has a significant positive predictive effect on performance confidence; psychological resilience plays a partial mediating role between
body image and performance confidence. This study reveals the psychological mechanism behind the formation of performance confidence of
music majors in stage performances, enriches the theoretical research in the field of music education and psychological development of col
lege students, and provides practical guidance for improving the stage performance confidence of music majors.
