Constructing and Interpreting Yixing:Affective Inspiration in Ouyang Xiu's Song Lyrics
Abstract
one can discern the interplay of sensual immersion and rational detachment within the 'spirit of inspiration' in Ouyang's lyrics. This
aesthetic paradigm, known as the 'Six-One Style, ' emerged from the fusion of Tang poetry's 'spirit of inspiration' and 'emotional ex
pression' with the identity of Song dynasty literati. It stands as a pivotal element in the spiritual lineage of Song dynasty literati lyrics.
Moreover, the diverse interpretations of Ouyang Xiu's ci poetry within the English-speaking world not only validate the universal ap
peal of the 'Yixing' aesthetic but also demonstrate viable pathways for classical Chinese literature to engage in global civilisational dia
logue.
