Huanhuan Ke

Abstract

Student Engagement Theory focuses on learners' behavioral, emotional and cognitive engagement in the learning process, which
holds important guiding significance for optimizing project-based learning in higher vocational English and stimulating students' learning autonomy and enthusiasm. Based on Student Engagement Theory, combined with the characteristics of higher vocational English teaching and
students' learning conditions, this study constructs a "Four-Three" design element model for higher vocational English project-based learning,
designs a "Three-Stage and Six-Step" teaching implementation process, and establishes a "Four-Dimension and Two-Assessment" wholeprocess diversified evaluation system. Teaching verification was carried out taking the college English course of Urban Rail Transit Operation
major in higher vocational colleges as the practical carrier. The results show that this model can effectively stimulate students' English learning motivation and significantly improve their learning engagement, English application competence and professional literacy. Meanwhile,
artificial intelligence technology boasts broad application prospects in aspects such as student engagement data monitoring, adaptive push of
project tasks, intelligent feedback and personalized guidance, which can provide a new path for the precise implementation of project-based
learning and large-scale personalized teaching in higher vocational English education.
